Bad news from Rio, our first stop. Yesterday criminal gang members went to attack the police. So far 18 people have been killed. Six people were burned to death when some gang members sat fire on the bus. Local media reports that the city has a war atmosphere. Next weekend we will be on a bus from Rio to Sao Paulo. I hope everything has calm down to then, and that we will travel safely.

We are two Norwegian girls at the age of 19. We want to experience the world and in January 2007, we are heading out for a journey around the world. We will travel for about four months and the places we will visit, are Orlando, Sao Paulo, La Paz, Guatemala, Sydney, Fiji, and Thailand. There will be a lot planning in the forehand. On this blog, we will write about our preparations and we will continue to write during our journey. If you have ideas for us were we should go and what we should see, or even places we can stay as cheap as possible, we will be greatful if you contact us. We want to experience contrasts in the world, so we want to see both poverty and more normal standards of living. We've already got in touch with several orphanage that we shall visit.
